Palazzo Mosca – Civic Museums

The city museum that hosts fine collections and where temporary exhibitions are held. It is home to the Bellini room featuring the Coronation of the Virgin, a magnificent example of Renaissance art, and rooms containing sculptures, applied arts, maiolica from the Duchy of Urbino, sacred and profane works from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries, including the Fall of the Giants by Guido Reni and still life from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

Casa Rossini

The house where Gioachino Rossini was born. The collections record his life and works through prints, etchings, lithographs, portraits, caricatures and occasional exhibitions that delve more deeply into certain aspects of his life. There is an audio and video room where cutting edge technology enables visitors to experience his legacy in captivating new ways. A shop dedicated entirely to Rossini merchandise can be found on the ground floor.

Domus – Archaeological area in Via dell’Abbondanza

The Domus of Pesaro is a richly decorated example of a noble residence (“domus”) dating back to the early Roman Empire. Ceramics, oil lamps and items from daily life are displayed, with pride of place taken by the head of a small dormant Eros in terracotta. The stunning virtual itinerary is the only one of its kind in the Marches Region.

Archaeological area and Antiquarium in Colombarone

An archaeological area set in the San Bartolo mountain park featuring a late antiquity villa with precious mosaics and the Christian basilica of S. Cristoforo ad Aquilam surrounded by a cemetery and parish church. The small antiquarium recounts the story of the excavations with displays of the archaeological findings from many years of research.

Pescheria Visual Arts Centre

Formerly a fishmonger’s, this nineteenth-century porticoed building was converted into an exhibition space and featues a ceiling built with the wooden trabeated system. It abuts the seventeenth century chiesa del Suffraggio and has hosted the Pescheria Visual Arts Centre since 1996, a space designed to promote contemporary art and design exhibitions.
